Southern Ohio Port Authority - New Boston Steel Mill Project: - Click here to view slide show
The Southern Ohio Port Authority was awarded a $3 million CORF grant to conduct remediation and demolition activities at the former New Boston Steel Mill property located along the Ohio River in Lawrence County. The property was used by the mill until 1980 and at its peak employed 4,200 workers. The CORF project accounts for 41 acres of the total 120 acres of former mill property. The larger goal of the project is to redevelop the prime real estate into an industrial park with a commercial component. The CORF property is under development, and several commercial buildings have been constructed with businesses on site.
