Lake County - Lakeview Bluffs Project - Click here to view slide show
Lake County was the recipient of a $3,000,000 Clean Ohio Revitalization Grant to conduct soil remediation activities on the 78.35-acre Lakeview Bluffs Former Coke and Cement Plant site. Situated along the Lake Erie shoreline and Grand River corridor in Painesville Township, the property was used for industrial purposes from 1912 to 1982. Hemisphere Development, LLC, in partnership with IMG, will transform the entire 1,100-acre former Diamond Shamrock site into the nation's first sports-oriented community. The total cost for cleanup is estimated at more than $13 million. This project's principal feature is the IMG Resort Academies, which offers world-class amateur athletic instruction in all major sports as well as a hotel and business conference center. JJR, a nationally-recognized waterfront master-planning firm, has been retained by Lake County to design and implement a comprehensive master plan for Lake County's entire shoreline.
